Application tips

Do

  • Know yourself! Before you apply for a job, think of who you are, what job you aspire to and in what line of business.
  • Turn your CV into a business card. It represents the showcase for what you know and master.
  • Structure your CV. Add personal details, objectives, education, languages, work experience, IT knowledge, hobbies, 10 strong suits.
  • Standing out is allowed, better yet it is mandatory. Special layout, coloured paper, etc., perfect, as long as it is immaculate and functional.
  • For recent graduates: elaborate on your thesis or internships as they represent your job experience!
  • The covering letter must also focus on the message! Be original, convincing, apply the terms used in the job vacancy, avoid stereotypes and always mention the vacancy reference.
  • Prepare mentally for the job interview. Try to imagine yourself in the job, inquire thoroughly about the company. You can also learn a lot about work environment, corporate culture, etc. through third parties.
  • During the interview look the interviewer in the eye, give clear answers. Ask questions about the company, display interest, show enthusiasm and motivation and you have won half the battle.
  • Above all, be yourself. And just think that the world will not come to an end if you do not get the job.

Don't

  • Prose or long running text do not belong in a CV.
  • Handwritten CVs are out. Always use a PC for your CV. Avoid abbreviations. Positions or job titles must be understandable.
  • Mention desired salary in your CV.
  • If you are delayed before your interview, alert the interviewer as soon as possible!
  • Avoid eccentric or untidy clothing. Pay attention to your posture.
  • Do not criticize your current employer. Do not divulge confidential information.
  • Do not mention salary. If the question is asked, however, react quickly.
  • Do not paint too much of a positive picture of yourself, but not a too negative one either.
  • Do not twist the facts, as sooner or later you will be discovered.
